It has been several years since I made any tintype photographs of the Grand Canyon, and now that it’s practically in my backyard (I recently moved to the Flagstaff area!) I wanted to spend some time in the relative solitude of various remote spots along the North Rim.

Late September and early October was a good time to work up there, between 5200 ft and about 9000 ft elevation. Not too hot during the daytime, and nice cool nights for some good sleep.

Not that it didn’t get hot in the middle of the day… let’s just say “the Old Naked” may refer to something other than the agave plant. At least I kept an apron on – I am dealing with some harsh chemicals after all!
