This past Saturday I had the opportunity to ride up to Machias, Maine, with Kari, to make tintypes at the Blueberry Festival and Blackfly Ball there. That whole shebang didn’t work out so well, and the less said about it the better, but I did manage to make two tintypes of the short but emphatic waterfalls at the mouth of the Machias River. There’s always a silver (nitrate) lining!
Here’s the location and Kari’s setup, for posterity’s sake.
The bridge near Ft. Knox. No, not that Ft. Knox.
I thought Kari had a sweet location, but the timing was off, and we were just a tad off the beaten path for the time of day we were there.
Nice signage for the event.
They even made a sign for us!
And there was a lot of creative use of clothes hangers and stockings.
ok, I give up. How did you manage to get the first pic of the falls without falling over the cliff? These are great. Thanks, ruth
The platform from which I was photographing was built right up to the edge of the walls of the little canyon there. :-)
